Harlequins

Performing every Saturday at 6pm on Landroval

What's the story behind your band's founding?

Jan 1. 2015 Family outfit. Seen the politics and shenanegans Layriena suffered through. Only way to be sure of avoiding politics from strangers.  Four mottos; All for the audience. Take no payment. (Tips have been unavoidable from fans that enjoyed the concerts). No politics. No competitive festivals.

How did your band get its name?

Medieval entertainers was the theme sought. Seemed appropriate since it was not taken.

How did your members meet one another?

We know each other in real life.

How would you describe your band's music?

Pop. rock. lore-friendly. alternative, original creations.

How do you decide which songs to play?

We have two songweavers. All three vote. Three votes and the song is in the weekly concert.

Do you have a signature song?

We have many, since we transcribe our own songs.

What's the highlight of your band's time together?

When servers were shutting down, Like on Vilya, Meneldor, Riddermark. Tearful moments. Memories. This is why our fan base seems to be very diverse. We toured up to 8, 10, then 11 servers on weekends. Though the crowds were large sometimes, sometimes it's about honoring those memories, which is bigger than our band. We were just honored to provide the forum for those on servers shutting down. Just the band.

We recite Quenta Silmarillion, and at Shirefest will be reciting the tale of Beren & Luthien.  Our first organized concert was at Laerlin's Music of Middle Earth n of Hobbiton on Jan 3, 2015. All sung lore-friendly songs to honor Prof. Tolkien's birthday.  Unfortunately 3 songs were cut due to the 30 minutes scheduled.

Do you have any stories about a time when things didn't go so well?

Constantly. Playing to an empty audience when previously a large crowd gathered.  Large events that overlap even our regular time slot on Landroval. It's ok. It's good for the audience to have choice.

Does your band play a regular concert? If so, when and where?

We tour Landroval, Laurelin, Crickhollow, Arkenstone, Brandywine, Gladden weekly on weekends. Minimum 1 hour concerts. lately we've been playing more original transcriptions due to backlog that finally got three votes.  Our only fixed time slots are 6pm on Landroval, and unofficially 8pm on Arkenstone.

Does your band have a website, Twitter feed, Youtube channel, or links to any performances?

Just what the audience records. Part of our motto. Not here for the glamour. All for the audience.

What's the one thing we should know about your band above all else?

All for the audience. We play what we like. Hopefully the audience likes our selection.

Is there anything else you'd like to tell us about your group?

Music is to be shared.  Like travelling minstrels of history, we're just trying to spread the music experience in LotRO to everyone. Laurelin and the five NA servers have been selected. We used to play up to 11 servers on weekends when they were still up.
