The Glass Apple : A Forks-Out Mystery is a multi-staged, multi-timed, multi-day role-playing event

Requirements: One free character slot on the Glamdring server to be used during the event by a Hobbit or River Hobbit. The ability to use Poetical in-game, or be able to copy/paste from clipboard while playing. A small amount of free time. A wee tiny bit of writing skill. A sense of humor. A commitment to be online and present for three Saturdays in a row. And an agreed upon medium to transfer text (email, Guildlaunch PM (guildlaunch account needed), Discord DM (discord account needed).

What is not required: Role-playing experience, perfect typing ability, college-level grammar and spelling, in-game gold, VIP status. Players are not required to keep their Apple once the event finishes, or to keep them within the kinship The Appledumpling Gang, or to continue to role-play with that character.

What is required: a desire to have fun and do your best at taking on the role of a character that isn't yourself (text acting), and solving a murder.

Act I: Weeks 1 & 2. Pick your Apple.

I will make an Application Post here at Crickhollow Music in the News Section, on a Saturday, where anyone can post as a guest if they aren't a member here. In that post, I will display the names of 15 Apples that I have already reserved on the Glamdring Server, and give a choice of three different Event Start Times. Both Apple name and Start Times will be chosen on a first-come/first-serve basis. The choice of Event Start Times will be applicable to future Acts II - IV. I will accept Applications for an entire week, then compile the results and post them the following Saturday.

Final Event times will be split into three periods of 1pm-3pm, 4pm-6pm, and 7pm-9pm server time. Each period will have a group with a maximum capacity of 5 Apples not including any NPCs. Three baskets, five apples per basket.

Each Apple will have a predetermined Occupation (that may or may not reflect in-game crafting) that will (somewhat) define their character, and a short and simple pre-written backstory, some of which may be known to other Apples.

Each Apple will have one single pre-written defining Schtick or dominant Personality Trait that will be integral to that Apple for the duration of the event. And each Apple will have one single secret, hidden Motive that I will divulge secretly. I will also give every Apple a short "Introduction", which the player can add to, if they wish. This is what your Apple will say when they introduce themselves to other Apples.

Any additional traits (sex, avatar appearance, class), flaws, characteristics, or role-playing devices are up to the player to create if they so wish, as long as they do not contradict with any of the predetermined aspects that are necessary for the event. Otherwise, go as nuts as you want with the rest, be the Apple you want to be.

An Example Apple:

Applejelly - Farmhand (presently working for Appledores), eventually wants to earn enough to buy their own farm just outside of Staddle in Bree Land. Applejelly is a hard worker but is always tired, and uses the /yawn emote a lot, along with laying down to "just take a quick power nap" whenever they are able to. "I'm not sleeping, I'm checking for eyelid leaks."

Players will have a week to think about what sex/class/appearance they will want for their Apple. Feel free to create a Hobbit or River Hobbit and record any settings ahead of time if you wish.

I will also be available during this week, and the following, for any follow-ups questions via email/guildlaunch/discord

Act II: Week 3. Polish your Apple.

To prevent any unwanted or unseen sniping of Apple names, to be 100% sure everyone gets the precise Apple name they wanted, we have a few hoops to jump through.

I will be logged into the game on week 3 with one of three alts predetermined ahead of time and sent to each player privately. After contacting a player via Tell, as soon as the player confirms "ready" I will set a timer for 3 minutes. During this time players can log off and open the character creation screen, or simply have it already set up by multi-boxing, and get everything ready, including having the name of the Apple typed into the name box, except for hitting the "Create Character" button. As soon as the timer hits 3 minutes, I'll delete the Apple from another multi-box I have open, allowing the player to then hit the Create Character button.

Players will then have one week with which to get their Apple through and out of the Introduction (in Archet or Mossward) and over to Michel Delving.

Act III: Week 4. Prologue. Prepare your Apple.

We'll be online and ready at the start of each of the three Event Start Times. Apples for those times should be online at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm respectively. We'll send out invites to Apples to get them all into the kinship, The Appledumpling Gang. At this point, Apples will have a port and access to The Appledumpling Gang kinhouse in the Shire.

Once all Apple for that Event Start Time are online and members of the kinship, the Main NPC, a character named "Narrator" will begin by introducing The Prologue exposition via kinchat. Each Apple will then introduce themselves to the rest of the Period Group with their pre-written introduction. Players are free to take notes on other Apples if they wish.

Afterwards, Apples are free to log out, or to stay online for the remainder of their Event Start Time, in order to quickly run through as much of the Exploring the Shire and Shire Slayer deeds as time allows. The deed runs will be explained as part of the story during The Prologue. During this time, players are encouraged to improvise any role-playing with other Apples, using your Apple's traits and Schtick, along with anything else you've added role-playing wise.

After all three Event Start Times finish, players will have one week with which to complete any deeds, or to go through the Epic as far as they wish.

Players can decide on their own to team up with one or all other Apples during the week, to finish deeds or simply to level up. Upon reaching level 15 and gaining access to sirnames, Apples should choose the sirname "Appledumpling", at least for the next week.

Leveling up any further past the Introduction is not a requirement.

Players at this point have access to the kinhouse's Storage Chest, which contains a variety of cosmetics, dyes, accessories, and other things any Apple might need, for all Apples to use to help complete their Apple.

Act IV: Week 5. The Glass Apple.

The Meat and Potatoes. In three separate groups, starting at 1pm, 4pm, and 7pm respectively. Apples will meet at the Kinhouse and embroil themselves in a Murder Mystery! During this Final Event, an Appledumpling Gang member NPC named "Narrator" will be narrating the important parts of the Mystery in kinchat, while Apples involved will use the Say channel to interact with each other using pre-written responses, and improvisational role-playing.

The Oliphaunt in the room: Hobbits don't commit murder. Especially Apples. Yet somehow...

Be assured, I have thought of this, and taken care of it. I'm just not going to tell everyone how until the time is right.

A huge thanks again to everyone joining us, we're going to have a ton of fun playing music for everyone fishing! (For one day, at least!)
