re: Bread & Jam Theme Night

0

Starting March 1st, and continuing every First Friday of the month, Bread & Jam will play host to an agreed upon Theme for musicians to play around with.

These Special B&J sessions will be open to all musicians from solo artists to bands, and optional for all musicians as well.

Because some players show up at the start and leave early, and others show up late and play until the wee hours, the chosen Theme can be used throughout the entire night.

Obviously, not all artists have enormous set lists of songs to choose from.   Any Theme chosen will have a chance of limiting players, which is why the Themes are optional.

A wider-ranging, more generic Theme will allow for a larger number of musicians to try it.  A more defined Theme could also be an exciting challenge.  Themes will be chosen via a Poll, using the most popular suggested ideas in this thread.  Musicians are encouraged to post to submit any ideas for any Themes they may have, so that they can be included in the Poll.

-------

Ideas already brought up are:

A particular genre (Country&Western, Folk, Pop, Blues, Rock, Disco, Baroque, Parody/Humorous, Tango)

A particular time period (50's sock hop/doo wop, Psychedelic 60's, roaring 20's, 80's party)

Any musical limitation (only songs with female vocalists, only instrumentals, only duets, plucky fiddle night, acoustic only/unplugged)

Other (speed run - all songs under 3 min, Epic Long Songs (6-9 minutes), play your Favorite Bass lines, Billboard top songs)

And I'll add Rhym's obvious choice for an All-Zeppelin night.

-------

Please feel free to post suggestions, comments, questions, random music trivia, shower thoughts, whatever below.  :)

re: Bread & Jam Theme Night

Should we keep Theme Night going?  Are we still having fun with it?  Or are a few/some/many/all of you kind of tired of it?  What should we do?

Let me know by voting in this month's Poll!  :)
