I keep forgetting to look here at all these covers, I need to do that at some point...

I did play through The Warning's cover of Enter Sandman, which was great to hear as just in the last day or so heard their song Choke, so this was good to hear for the other singers.

And speaking of Enter Sandman, I'm reminded I recently heard Miley Cyrus sing that with Metallica...

I remembered this thread cos I'd just come across a cover by an Australian singer, she typically does country style stuff (I heard much from her for some years, so not sure how much she's changed, though still country-ish it seems), but this quite different...

Slayer did a whole album of covers, songs by Punk Rock bands.  This one is a cover of a Stooges song, but you might have missed it, because they changed the name, and the lyrics.  Iggy wrote I Wanna Be Your Dog...

Slayer - I'm Gonna Be Your God

From Pop to Reggae/Ska?  Good choice.

Posted this in Discord, but forgot to put it here.  This is the Original version, of the much, much, more famous cover version by The Steve Miller Band.  Steve sped the song up, shortened it a bit, changed just a few lyrics, and polished it up.  But I still wonder why this original version didn't do nearly as well already, it's a banger for the time.  And, Paul Pena was blind by age 20, a pretty big hurdle for a player of instruments.

Hey!  Remember Tesla?  Not the car, not the scientist...that band that did a cover of Signs.

They're still around.  And here's a recent cover of an old Aerosmith song.

Tesla - S.O.S. (Too Bad)

First Cover Song of the year, a band I've been following for a few years now.  Barely out of High School now, this is the New Generation of Metal Chicks, a band called The Warning.  Three sisters from Monterrey, Mexico, I see nothing but good things from them for years to come.

This is their cover(s) of Metallica's Enter Sandman, the first, from when they were all in Grade School in 2014, the second from 2022.  The first cover is a straight up attempt to cover Metallica, the second cover, is The Warning making Enter Sandman their own song.  I love this version!  So, yeah, this is my favorite cover of Enter Sandman after Motorhead's version.

The Warning - Enter Sandman 2014

The Warning (with Alessia Cara) - Enter Sandman 2022

A two-fer to end the year!  I've heard quite a few covers of this C.C.R. song, and some are okay, many are just terrible (U2's cover is a waste of 3 minutes I'll never get back), but these two are my favorites.

I just can't pick which one I like the best.  So posting both.

Dropkick Murphys - Fortunate Son

Drums and Bass on this are killer.

Clutch - Fortunate Son

Hey, remember that time in the 90's when a bunch of 90's bands covered a ton of Schoolhouse Rock songs?

Blind Melon - 3 is a Magic Number

In 1965 a band from the U.K. called The Move was born.  They had 20 songs in the U.K. top 20, but not a single song did anything in the U.S., which is why you've probably never heard of them if you're from the U.S.

In 1972, the band recorded a song one of them wrote, and released it, but again, no noise from the U.S.

Two of the remaining band members of The Move, put together another band (you might know them, the Electric Light Orchestra), and in 1977, released their first single, which also contained this very song, covered by themselves, and amped up a bit.  For sure you've heard the 1977 version, but have you ever heard the original 1972 version from The Move?

The Move - Do Ya

In 1946, Merle Travis recorded a song about a miner in Muhlenburg County, Kentucky.  In 1947 it went Gold.  In 1955 Tennessee Ernie Ford released a cover, which went Gold almost immediately, and in 2015, that version entered the Library of Congress.   It's been covered famously over 50 times, and most likely well over a thousand times by lesser known bands.

This is my favorite version.

Jeff Beck & ZZ Top - Sixteen Tons
