Meet Mushroom Stew

What is the story behind your bands founding?

 Hehe....short version is: A few of us attended Winterfest 2018 together and enjoyed it so much we decided to start our own band.

How did your band get its name?

 We wanted to stay close to our SWTOR guild roots and also be acceptable in Arda....sooo...we came up with Mushroom Stew!

How did your members meet one another?

 Some go back years together in gaming, some are new. We aren't too picky.

How would you describe your bands music?

YeeeeeeeHaaaaawwwww!

In reality we try to bring a folk or bluegrass sound to every song we touch. Sometimes its a work of art and sometimes its the art of work.

How do you decide what songs to play?

 Sometimes we all pick a song in a rotation, sometimes one person just runs away with it. Concerts are generally set up by the person who had the idea for the theme that month. Sometimes we just wing it and let the Shroom entities take over lol.

Do you have a signature song?

 I think we each have our own preferences to be honest, I can't say we have one that is absolutely signature. I think with us its more about our sound and style that creates our signature than any one particular song. Each of us brings a little something different to the table creatively, while holding true to the overall sound we are looking for.

What is the highlight of your bands time together?

 For me personally there's a lot of moments over the past year that have been special. I mean a year ago Mushroom Stew wasn't even and idea. Now it's more than an idea. We have other bands and writers who we collaborate with quite regularly, we have our own established sound and style that is easily distinguishable from others. A solid fan base and lots of friends and fans who help and inspire us. It's hard for me to pick one single moment that stands out above all others.

Do you have any stories about a time when things didn't go so well?

 Well, this one time at band camp....wait, that's not right...hehe, ok let's try this one. At shirefest, when we opened our set it took us about 15 mins to get our first two songs in. We were so nervous that we were making mistakes and missing instruments. After those first two though, everything worked itself out, the nerves settled and we finished our set even with the slow start.

Does your band play a regular concert? If so, when and where?

We do! You can catch us playing the second saturday each month in Bree outside the Pony. We tag up with PPPB to put on a show we call: An evening of Pipeweed and Shrooms!
