In the Applications, "Almiyan asked "why Sunday is only to 10pm?" Good question. Mostly, it's because we really are never sure exactly how many bands will apply due to all sorts of reasons. We figured in the number of bands previously, thought about how many new bands there would be, and added a little pandemic into the mix. I think I posted it somewhere else, but we thought 31 would be a good max, and hoped for 20 or so, and reached 28 total at closing.
We plan on starting as early as we can, because we know (and love!) that some bands hail from overseas, and probably really don't want to play in the middle of their night. And we also want to be sure to try to keep Bread & Jam and Elevenses going forward. And lastly, we want to avoid any dead air (gaps with no music).
This year, as it stand, still ends up being the largest Shirefest so far, something that we're all proud of, and slightly intimidated by. Next year, who knows? We could end up with 35 bands, or 12.
Either way, we will continue to do our best in our goal towards helping our community of musicians, giving them an opportunity to show off their talents, to bring together bands and music lovers, and to have the most fun that we can together!
