Shirefest 2023 will be held at the Methel Stage in Bywater on the weekend of June 16th through 18th.
Bread & Jam will be held in the Green Dragon Friday night, and Elevenses Sunday morning.
Applications will be accepted from today (May 12th) through May 26th.
This year Second Breakfast is celebrating the 10th Anniversay of Rosalie Rumble's Shirefest!
We're hoping to see a return of many of the bands that have played in the early years of Shirefest, and a few new bands to infuse Shirefest with some fresh music to dance to!
This years Shirefest will again have a cap limit of 30 bands maximum. We love the fact that each year Shirefest has grown in size, with more and more bands each year, but we'd also like to keep the spirit of Shirefest. We love the one hour sets, and there's only so many hours to work with. We know that with a maximum limit on bands that if the number of applicants exceeds the limit, there may be some bands that will not make it into the final list. To forestall any possible hurt feelings, we've decided on a tier system we will follow to base our final choices on.
First Tier: Bands who actively call Crickhollow their Home and who play on Crickhollow primarily and often. Shirefest is open to all bands from any server, but Shirefest has always been about Crickhollow bands foremost.
Second Tier: Any band who has previously played Shirefest, from any server. These bands helped make Shirefest. Bands who have played Shirefest for multiple years from other server may bump a new band from Crickhollow that has never played Shirefest.
Third Tier: Bands that may not be from Crickhollow but have played in any other Second Breakfast sponsored Music Event (Winterfest, Under a Fool Moon, Elevenses, Bread & Jam, etc)
We will favor bands with band leaders who are active members of Second Breakfast, or who have band members who are in Second Breakfast, or who are well-known friends of Second Breakfast.
We will favor bands who have been an active part in the Crickhollow Music Community whether they call Crickhollow Home, or their Home Away From Home. Leaders and members who show up to other band's concerts, bands who have helped teach or influence other bands, bands who vote for Bread & Jam's Theme Night or post here. Active role-models of this Music Community.
Bands should prepare sets of 50-55 minutes, have an additional encore or two if running fast, and prepared to drop a song if running behind. If technical difficulties occur, as they do, we'll obviously be lenient, but for the most part, every minute a band runs over time is a song that another band may have to drop. Having a scheduling delay also affect those who may wish to show up at a certain time to see a band. Let's all look out for each other!
If you haven't submitted a profile for our Bands pages, head *here* for the simple form, or *here* for an advanced interview.
If you've already submitted a profile, but wish to update it or add to it, head *here*.
If you haven't submitted a picture for your band, or would like to update one, stop by our *gallery*.
We'll be asking if your band will be singin lyrics in your songs, so that we can announce it during your introduction. Please join the "Event" channel to use for our silly fun banter while bands are singing.
Please join the "Bands" channel for direct communication with Event coordinators and emcees.
As before you will be asked for your preferred times, and then any additional times that you can play. We would love to have everyone play during their preferred time, but obviously if 10 bands all pick the same time, that won't work out well at all, but we'll try our hardest to make everyone happy. We've been blessed to have a good number of bands with a lot of flexibility. Please make a note if there are any extenuating circumstances that limit the times you can play (hailing from overseas, etc).
We know times are strange right now, and things can change rapidly, so please let us know if anything changes with your availability as soon as you are able to.
Please list your times on EDT (-4 GMT/Server Time/Boston) or indicate your local time zone.
Because there are only so many hours in a day, there are only so many timeslots to fill.
Applications will be closed when all timeslots have been filled or on the 26th.
Please use the template provided below, and reply in this thread. Hit "Post Reply" not "New Post" (although, I'll fix it if ya miss it).
